Improving myself
The phase of problem-finding is the moment where you need to keep an overview of the situation. Collect relevant data and do research on the core of the problem.
Focus on your goal. Keep an eye on that constantly. What do I have to do? Which information do I need? How much time and resources do I need?
By asking many open questions you collect a lot of information. Be curious. Ask strong questions; these are the questions that stimulate lots of inner work, like:
Why do you think…
What does it bring to you if you…
Really listen to the answers. Ask deeper. Be alert about your assumptions, explore them. Observe and ‘hear’ what they don’t say. Use your intuition. Mindfulness and curiosity are important skills in this phase.
In the meantime, you can ask yourself:
- Do I focus on the right information?
- Do I reach my goal in this manner?
- Am I really open and curious when I listen?
- Where do my assumptions lead me?
It is also important to summarize all information:
- What is really important?
- Which people are key?
- Which information is missing?
- How can I get that information?
Dare to start, even when not all the information is there. During the process you can adjust and re-adjust. To become better and to improve yourself, it is important to reflect on how you worked during this phase.
- Did you reach your goal?
- What worked well?
- What didn’t work?
- What can you do better next time?
- Who is good at clarifying the situation? Can you collaborate with that person?
